Ebay can be your friend...

All recent Sony (like any HiMD_ use the same connection spec for the
remotes. Something like the MC38EL

The problem is likely to be the brush contact that connectes the mini
PCB to the separate jack socket. I got that far with mine before
figuring that there had to be a better way.

The lowest cost mod which I considered for a few seconds would be to
solder a 3.5mm line socket on a short cable to the relevant PCB
contacts and take the cable out though the old jack socket.
