Rich,
There seems to be a Red-headed Woodpecker calling in the background, but the
drum itself makes me think of Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. The drum is
definitely not that of a Red-bellied Woopecker. The Red-bellied never has
that kind of hestitation. If there choice is between Red-bellied and
Red-headed then I would go with Red-headed.
The double rap of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker has elements that are only 38
milliseconds apart. I am recording at Congaree National Park on a regular
basis, hoping to capture such a double rap, but so far without success.
Rumors presist, however.
