A cheap alternative is to get a pair of $40 muffs (at least
28db) at an industrial supply or farm or safety equipment store,
and wear good earbuds underneath them. Larger hardware stores
have them, too.

Subject: [Nature Recordists] Isolation Headphones
I just made my first field recording this past weekend, sandhill
cranes in Nebraska. I really enjoyed myself even though the
recordings didn't turn out that well.
Anyway one of the things I would like to purchase are some
isolation
headphones so I could hear what I'm recording over the chatter
of the
cranes. I'm using a Sony MZ-NH700S to record with.
I don't want to spend more than $100.00 if that is possible.
One of
the headphones I ran across is -

Does anyone know if this would be a good brand to purchase?
I've read
a couple nice reviews about them, not pertaining to recording
nature.
Thanks,
Kent
