2496 field power supply

Hi Eric = am new to list so dont really know what has gone on 
before.   Ref Martyne's power query:  went to local shop yesterday and 
they say they will have an MP3 player 12volt rechargeable unit which 
will supply the 2496 power input USB. This is for using in motgor 
vehicles and boats with a 12volt supply.   Not in stock till next week 
but then we are at the Ends of the Earth when it comes to supply 
trains. 

Would however be interested in anything you can come up with extra to 
the Sony equipment.
