I used the 722 for several hours at temperatures few degrees
(Celsius) below zero and never had problems. I kept the recorder most
of the time vertical in a classic photographic bag with the top cover
open to see the display. The 722 self heated enough to operate safely
and also to maintain the battery warmer than the external air.
Though, I still don't know which is the critical low-end temperature,
nor above which ambient temperature air circulation around the unit
is required to avoid burning it.
