I have yet another design for my mini disk case while recording, if
there is any interest I will post a photo.
I have a small appropriately sized zippered case that I have
modified by cutting a hole through one side of the case leaving just
enough material to sew a clear plastic panel over the hole. My case
had a liner so I was able to slip the plastic between the liner and
outside shell. I then attached side release buckles to the case and
made the holding strap long enough to form a loop just big enough to
slide over my hand when the buckles are latched. I can then wear
the case on my arm holding the microphone and make adjustments or
see the record level at a glance. I also made a longer adjustable
strap that will hook into the case buckles and the unit can be worn
around my neck or over my shoulder. I used a clear plastic from a
heavy duty shower curtain, flexible enough to press the small
buttons on the recorder.
I have also found a night light that works well for me.
http://www.maglite.com/product.asp?psc=3D2AACELL&pt=3DR which is fitted
with this http://www.zbattery.com/zbattery/fpo05aa7.html It
produces a small light that is just right for viewing the recorder
and does not destroy my night vision. I have a red lens on my light
but I doubt that it would be necessary. If I need more light I just
slip the extension off the light and I have plenty of light to move
around or find anything I may have dropped. I have attached a cord
that loops around my neck, if I want frequent access to the light I
just leave it turned on and direct the flexible extension to the
recorder at close range. The light is very small and directed using
the extension.
