M/S monitoring

I know this subject has been covered a bit in the past, but I am 
interested in current thoughts as I know some models of mixers/preamps 
are discontinued.

I have a new Fostex FR2 and a Shure VP88 and am hoping to find a less 
than expensive way to monitor a stereo mix while recording raw M/S to 
the FR2.  I know AEA and Sound Devices each had little moxes that 
helped do this, but these models are gone right?  Has anyone else had 
luck figuring this out?

Now that I know the SD 722 has this built in I sorta wish I had bit 
the bullet and bought that, but it was a whole $1500 more.
