On a different path concerning small electret powering. I asked the same
question to my friend who modifies small electrets. He explained it the sam=
e
way. At the time of my inquiry, Sony's minidisc powered mic input was doing
a poor job of powering the electrets, so he suggested buying Sharp MD's or
purchasing a very small preamp that he built, that would meet the powering
needs accurately. As of now I am using the HiMD with those same electrets
and the performance is much improved, although the matched preamp provides =
a
depth and transparency that seem to be missing in the powered inputs of the
Sony.
