In case you are interested, the TEAM (Tropical
Ecology, Assessment and Monitoring) Initiative at
Conservation International is currently developing
automated recording units as part of their Acoustic
Monitoring Protocol. I believe they have already been
tested for cricket work, but still need to be tested
for frogs, birds and other groups.
