Please let me again highlight that the "27dB TRS boost" option that is
available in the menus is actually not a simple "digital boost" as the
manual suggests (they perhaps meant that it is a =93digital=94 choice than =
can
be set either on or off). In fact, the inherent noise of the Sennheiser
K6/ME66 masks the MT2496 preamp noise once this option is activated. A crud=
e
digital boost (a digital multiplication) would not improve the
signal-to-noise ratio. Consequently, there must be an additional analog
amplifier stage somewhere in the signal path.
