Hi folks, I'm one of the unlucky souls who bought a pmd660 without hearing adequately about the preamp/hi gain noise issues, which are really terrible. I'm a novice and it took me about 2 minutes to realize there was something really screwy with the system- I thought it was faulty. So here's the dilemma: Do I suck up a $200 modification fee and get Doug Oade to fix it, bringing the total to about $650? Or do I sell the pmd660 and buy another solid state recorder that uses a decent preamp (and doesn't use whatever STUPID electrical design is apparently responsible for most of the problem)? Is there such a beast for somewhere near $650? Any input is much appreciated, thanks, Randy ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
