Since 2001, the Interior Dept under the intelligent design of Gale
Norton has been covertly altering the mission of the NPS to privatize
the support structure. This includes outsourcing the natural and
biological sciences, the public programs, the administration, and
park activities for the visitors among other issues. While this has
been no secret from the loyal and devoted ranks within the service
who are terrified by this spectre, it has been (by mandate) largely
an agenda hidden from the public and public review. Everyone who
works for the NPS lives in constant fear for their jobs. To
accomplish this outcome, their budgets and staff have been slashed to
beyond bare bones. The fear that's been instilled in these rangers
and service folks is at a level where they're generally so
intimidated that they've been effectively silenced on pain of
retribution from within (remember Valery Plame). It's really pretty
insidious.

Just imagine Disney-Grand Canyon! Along those lines check out
