This seems almost too weird to be true, but potentially very convenient.
Sadly, my current truck lacks this option.

As far as the theory behind it...I don't know how the keyless remotes work,
but if it works through a cell phone, it must be based on high fequency
tones, probably in some fairly unique pulse pattern (so that they don't end
up being 'universal') - just a guess. I wonder if dogs, bats etc. can hear
them.

This reminds me of a trick shown to me whereby red traffic lights
'magically' turned green when high beams were rapidly flashed on and off.
The lights had a sensor meant to detect approaching emergency vehicles and
would quickly switch to green for safe passage of police, fire, ambulance
etc.  I think the technology is now more advanced so this doesn't seem to
work nowdays.
