Hello to all.

May I first say thanks to the Moderator for letting me
join the group.

I'm based in the UK and until May of this year had
spent 25 years in lecturing in IT, mainly hardware,
installation and the like. A heart attack at work and
surgery to follow prompted me to re-think my future.
Helped by changes within the department, basically
cutbacks in staff, I decided to try new avenues.

My wife and I are now looking at setting up a centre,
which will look at environment and wildlife. I have a
basic AV knowledge picked up over the years. This
knowledge and my IT knowledge fit well together to
provide a fun learning experience for pupils visiting
the centre with their teachers.

I already own some basic recording equipment that I
used in past years for other things, a Revox B77 HS
(going well for all it=92s years and kept in good
order), Marantz CP430 portable cassette recorder, a
pretty basic electret mic, a couple of sure
lavaliere=92s that although old work well, (some nice
tests done in nest boxes with those last year).

Over the last 6 months I=92ve added a couple of ATM33a=92s
and an AT822 all with shock mounts and the best
semi-pro camcorder I could afford with a limited
budget (Sony VX2000).

This I hope will form the basis of some sound
recording I can add for pupils to listen to and I also
hope to be able to produce basic DVD=92s for follow up
work back at the school.

I came upon your group when looking for methods of
recording Bat echolocation calls, which I hope you,
may be able to help with some questions on soon.

Regards to all

Ron
