Hi Pratap!
Use the 20db attenuation when needed. No disadvantage if the signal is
strong enough.
Your earlier PRO2 was a model from 1984, suitable for the recorders which
were present then. Most microphones at that time were low-output and many
recorders didn't even have an attenuation.
