Thanks for all the replies so far. It's amazing how these things snowball. My first thoughts were to use my existing sound gear to capture some wild soundscapes. Then, I became interested in the techniques needed to get really good audio recordings of specific creatures. So, I need to positively identify visually the source wherever possible. I might as well make a visual record at this point. This leads into the area of binoculars, scopes, cameras lenses. I am sure that I am not the first person to start out on this journey, nor will I be the last.
