Sony has recently released software to upload WAV recordings from a
Hi-MD recorder to a Macintosh. Until now Sony offered upload software
for PCs only.

At this point, the Mac "WAV Importer" software is only available with
the purchase of two new Hi-MD models, available from Sony's Pro Audio
division. Hopefully, this software will be made available soon for
all Hi-MD owners.

The new recorders are sold by Sony's Pro Audio division, and are aimed
at ENG and Podcast markets. The recorders come packaged with a Sony
microphone. Here's one example:

Sony MZ-M100 Hi-MD recorder
based on MZ-RH10, black finish
kit includes
  ECM-DS70P Stereo Microphone
  MDR-EO931 Earbud Headphone
  SonicStage software for PC
  Wav Importer software for Mac

here's how the WAV Importer works:
-- connect the Hi-MD recorder to the Mac via USB
-- run Sony "WAV Importer" software on the Macintosh
-- upload PCM recordings made with the Hi-MD recorder
-- save files as WAV on the Mac

The MZ-M10, a less expensive model based on the MZ-RH910, is also
available.
