Syd me old china!! How could I ever think you lot down under where anything
but totally intelligent with my wife standing over my shoulder with a
baseball bat?
I must admit, when I arrived in the States back in 1996, I first saw the
Flammulated owl in a Zoo over here, I had to have a double take at the name,
I honestly thought it was eating too much bran and had some kind of wind
problem!!!
But flatulent owl was not his name :)

Subject: [Nature Recordists] Flammulated owl
Initially my envious thought was that Martyn's vocabulary of expletive
adjectives was wider than mine.
But then more postings indicated otherwise, so I reached for Gruson's World
Check List which confirmed that there IS an owl that is 'flammulated'.
But I haven't been able to discover what that means.
Martyn, does the role of moderator extend to remedying my antipodean
ignorance on this matter?
TIA
Cheers
Syd
