I personally find I can usually talk my way out. And I'm darned good at 
just vanishing into the woods. And I hardly need a gun to kill someone.

I certainly agree, even more so if you did not grow up with guns.

I've seen drug dealers operating in the woods. They generally don't want 
to be noticed and it's easy to just pass on by.

One evening three truckloads of good 'ole boys (probably containing a 
goodly supply of alcohol) came roaring down the road where I was using 
the Telinga. They stopped and asked if they could help me get my coon 
dog back. They seemed disappointed that there was no fun to be had 
hunting up a dog. And vanished off down the road. Nice fellows.
