Hi Martyn,
I also looked at your 722 v pmd-670.wav file. Could it be that the PMD 670
track has been compressed during an intermediate processing stage (e.g. by
MP3)? The sharp and alternating low-pass filter effects above 12 kHz would
suggest that. In case there was any kind compression, this arrangement
wouldn't be a fair test between the two devices, because the compression
would also rise the noise floor below 12 kHz.
