Intro and question

I am interested in bird and nature photography and I've joined this
group in hopes of learning about nature recording from experienced
people. I recognize many of the names of members here and am looking
forward to being a member.

I wanted to get some advice on basic equipment and have made an effort
to search past posts for the answers. I am considering buying a Sony
MZ-RH910 and to use it for the following:

I want to be able to transfer bird song from my commercial CDs via
computer to minidisc for use on birding trips.

I would like to have the capability to record and playback in the field.

Is this Sony suitable for this or could you recommend something else?

What accessories would you suggest in terms of field recording and
playback, such as mikes and speakers would be recommended?
Thanks for any help you could give.

Regards, Harold
