Hi folks,

I had the pleasure of attending Bernie Krause's presentation of his "Gorill=
as in the Mix" last
Friday at the University of Utah and highly recommend anyone, who has the o=
pportunity,
to go see it. One of the things that impressed me was Bernie's ability to =
mesmerize his
audience. Wee children to elderly folk obviously were totally enthralled w=
ith Bernie and his
pictures/sounds. The presentation was open to the public and attracted qui=
te the
diversity of folks. With all of the children, I was amazed at how well beh=
aved they (the
children) were.

I just want to say how much I admire Bernie and all of the work that he and=
 his lovely wife,
Cat, do to educate people about the crisis and issues surrounding our natur=
al
soundscapes. I know that there is a great lack of awarenss out there about=
 the loss of our=20
resources and Bernie made the statement that he believes our country to be =
wasting two
of our most precious resources, our natural habitats and fine young minds!

I also admire all of the rest of you folks, on the list, that are using you=
r time and talents to
educate others about the plight of our fellow creatures and soundscapes.

Thanks, Bernie and everyone!

warm regards,
Raven Simons
Salt Lake City

P.S. I posted to the NSS list about an article up on "The Witch's Voice" c=
alled "Journey To
The Temple of Sekhmet" that talks about issues of sound in our National Par=
ks. You can
find it at http://www.witchvox.com. Somebody suggested I post it to this l=
ist for some of
the folks not on the NSS list to enjoy.
