Hi Dawn,

Have you considered a parabola mic such as the Telinga over a shotgun? The
gain of a parabolic is significantly greater, but maybe with primates being
rather loud, gain is not an issue. I think your choice of minidisk over dat
is a wise one. I have always used the Sony MZ-R50 minidisk recorders and a
Telinga twin science mic for all my thousands of recordings. They have
served me well for over six years.

As far a suggesting a minidisk recorder I will leave that to those in the
group who are up to date on them. But in my opinion I wouldn't take
Cornell's comments about uncompressed recordings to seriously. I think most
of our members would agree that you probably wont be able to tell the
difference.

Your project sounds fascinating, I hope you keep the group up to date on
your adventures and progress.

Best regards,

Jim
