Greetings from Houston, Texas:

As requested by the welcoming message I received from the Moderator I
am posting to introduce myself as a new member.

The Subject Line is indicative of my arrival at this Yahoo Group
since it is by serendipity that I found the concept of nature
recording. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I've not been aware of
your recording activities since I'm a practicing audiologist, deeply
in love with the phenomenon of sound, and actively engaged in
numerous research aspects of my profession. Surely that would have
exposed me to your interests, but, alas, it didn't -- not until now.=20
Perhaps it is because I have been caught up in the technical aspects
of acoustics and psychoacoustics for the past couple of decades.=20
Nonetheless, I am thrilled to learn of your interests and feel that
this may be the recreational opportunity I am seeking.

And how exactly did I locate you? I've been surfing the internet in
search of digital software to analyze and manipulate the various
parameter of sound. Some of this involves music while other involves
environmental sound. One internet link leads to another . . . .
which leads to another . . . . . and finally to you. Upon locating
you my thoughts were "no, this is not at all what I'm looking for"
and was about to move on when for some reason I read a couple of
sentences and said aloud, "Wow! This is fantastic! Do you mean
there are other who actually share my passion?"

So thankfully now I'm here. I'm going to be lurking and not posting
for quite awhile until I can either ask or offer something
intelligent. Thank you for the opportunity of sharing the Creator's
beautiful gift of sound.
