I don't know much about the AKG C1000, but if you like it, perhaps you coul=
d find a
second one for stereo recording from your window.

Many nature recordists on this group regard MiniDisk as a good recording me=
dium.=20
If by "CD-level Quality" you mean 16bit and 44.1kHz, the Sony HiMD
player/recorders such as the MZ-nh900 are under $300, can record uncompress=
ed
pcm, transfer via usb to a PC, and the resulting files can be converted to =
wav format.
I do not own a HiMD, so I can't attest from my own experience - just from w=
hat
others on this group have written.=20
