In general terms, based on limited use, the Audio Technica are higher in
self noise and not as sensitive. I would suggest the ME over them.

I use Sennheiser MKH mics. Next step above the ME in sound quality. The
equivalent to the ME66 would be a MKH-60. You can see my stereo M/S

Note, a shotgun mic provides no gain over a regular mic. All it provides
is directionality, it cuts off some of the sound from the side. For
distant subjects (say, over 100') a parabolic is probably a better

I use a Telinga Pro-6. I have both the DAT Stereo and Dual Science mics.
But almost all my recording is stereo now.
