Such places exist, but are pretty rare even for nature recording.
Another one that comes to mind is some caves. Every once in a while I
manage to be at such places, but more typical is as I stated. In any
case I think setting a average for natural settings is misleading, they
vary a lot.

A few years back there was a request on the group for mics that had
lower self noise than the MKH mics. For somewhere really quiet. Can't
remember right off who made the request.
