The PMD670 web site states "FAT 32 File Allocation Table allows for larger future media and files" In the typical implementation of FAT32, a single disc volume has a capacity of 32GB of data in many files, and a limit of 4GB in a single file. Recording PCM in stereo at 16/48, a 4GB file can capture almost 6 hours of material. You'll run out of battery power long before this! However, the larger Compactflash cards will be very useful in the new PMD671, which reportedly will record at rates up to 24/96. At this rate, a 4GB PCM file can contain slightly less than 2 hours of stereo. --oryoki ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
