I am not so sure it is "magical qualities" which they possess which let
them tell the future which allow animals to escape such diaasters as the
horrid disaster in SE Asia or the fact that they are attuned to
preditors day and night and not sleeping in buildings, driving cars in
noisy human environments and ignoring such things. They hear (often
wich much better hearing than we have) , feel or see something strange
and they run the opposite direction and usually much faster than a human
can run. They are not out in environments (like the ocean in a boat)
where they do not have means on their own without mechanical assistance
of moving quickly to escape danger. They are usually not distracted
by trying to save posessions or friends or relatives. Basically they
are usually better at saving their own neck than we are.
