In my experience, the noise likely to be induced in a long or inferior
cable comes from the cable acting as an antenna and picking up radio
interference.

I like Canare star quad (4 wire + shield) cable, but there is a Canare
2 wire + shield cable too. The braided shield is really durable. For
super long cables they have a "mini" version (2 wire + shield) which
cuts the weight down.

The Mogami cable (at least the ones that I have used) have a twisted
shield.

If you are using a multi-channel cable, this works in Mogami's favor,
as the Canare multi-channel cables are stiff and heavy.

Cheaper cables have a more plastic-y insulation that gets stiff in the
cold. High quality cables have a rubbery insulation that remains
flexible.

As far as using "gold" cables, I feel that there are other factors
which contribute more noise than the copper in my cables.
