Greetings! I just joined this group. I'm a nature lover, I would like to record some of the night insect sounds that I hear on my walks. I know nothing about recording, but I did recently acquire Cool Edit Pro. I am working on a soundscape using clips of the 17-year Cicadas. as far as recording equipment, my son advises me to go with a Minidisc recorder, but it has to have stereo mike capacity. I was unable to find this at my local electronic stores. The guy at Radio Shack suggests an old-fashioned cassette deck. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I don't have a huge budget, I don't want to spend thousands of $$. Can anyone give me some specific brand names? There is a good minidisc recorder available on the net for $100. But I would also need a good mic. Help! Thanks!
