I'm not so sure it's insignificant. True direct is much lower in 
intensity than reflected. But we see graphs of measured parabolic 
response that contain variations with frequency that would be produced 
by the interference of direct on reflected.

My own early experiments lead me to believe that I got better clarity of 
sound even in mono by blocking the direct path. Or using a directional 
mic pointed at the dish.
