I was asked to introduce myself to the group:
I'm a full time job seeker who earned a college degree not too long
ago. I'm new to the Chicago area and have a modest setup for
recording (gear from Sony, Sennheiser and Rycote). I've read messages
on and off from the group in the past and wish the archive search
function was a bit better...
I'm curious how many members have a better than dial up connection?
Anyone using lossless compression like FLAC or SHN?
I have bandwidth and disk space (many GB's) to dedicate to the group
through an FTP server. Is there anyone out there interested in
sharing recordings this way?
-Mike

Subject: What sound card?
Hi, I am asking for some advice here.
My Sound Blaster Live sound card's input converter went bad, causing
crackling on recordings. I need to find a new card. Any suggestions? I was
looking at Sound Blaster's Audigy 2 and M-Audio's Revolution. I was looking
for a 24-bit audio input. I can't be sure if the Sound Blaster Audigy 2
really has a 24-bit input from what I read and I read reviews that the
M-Audio's 24-bit input isn't nearly as good as claimed. I am looking for
suggestions for a good to really good sound card for a Windows Me, PCI
system.
Thanks!

You might consider looking at another M-Audio card which works well:
Delta DiO 2496
