Hi Jim; What an interesting comparison of Bewick's wren and the Towhee Jim. I can = pick out the Towhee by its introductory double note which seems to say" Tow= heeeee". Our Spotted Towhee on the West Coast are not a problem but I do = get confused with a Song Sparrow especially at a distance. The Song Sparrow= s have been singing since Christmas but the Bewick's Wren only started two = or three weeks ago. Close up the Bewick's only has one introductory note wh= ereas the Song Sparrow has two or three and ends with a more complex sound.
