I agree Tony, the first cut is very sparrow like but I also feel the second
cut has a few starlings in there with them and it's not uncommon for the 2
species to roost together, I remember in Scotland and England seeing and
recording the birds together as they do here in Seattle.
Well done Doug for the ID and a nice recording to clarify this too.
Mind you, your sparrows sound like they are in an Arizona heat wave!

I made some written comments about flocks of starlings
before I had listened to Domoniques recordings. The
first cut is hard to think of as starling, certainly
sounds like sparrows to me. The 2nd cut however has
sounds which I would attribute to starlings as well as
sparrows ( the whistling sound above the sparrow
churring). Perhaps both species were using the site
to roost. Sparrows and starlings used to roost
together along the hedgrows near Heathrow airport when
I was a boy.
