I have experienced large roosts of Starlings in the
UK. Gigantic numbers at a roost in a confer
plantation in S.Wales. I crept under the conifers
with the birds a few feet above me, deafening and very
smelly. In central London at Piccadily and in N.
London in parks and and at resevoirs. Very exciting
to watch and to listen to. The local goverment has
done a lot to discourage them roosting on the
buildings now so the sight is less common in recent
years.
