> MZ-R70 MiniDisc. I have read many reviews and user comments on webpages I would take an MZ-R50 over most any other Sony. I've had three, none has failed. Not as small, but dedicated line in/out and *very* solid in the field. I still carry one as my backup. The MZ-R37 is also well built; the interface is not as elegant, but it has the advantage of accepting AA batteries directly in its body -- the MZ-R50 uses a screw-on adapter. I've gotten both of these at very good prices on eBay (< US$80 for the R50, < $US60 for the R37). This said, Sharp has had an edge on providing features useful to recordists (eg, adjusting gain during a session if necessary; not requiring 'end search' before every recording...).
