My thanks to Doug and Naturerecordists, and especially to those who provided information about birds copying human music. I am delighted to have the information you have provided to pass on to my friend whose inquiry sparked my interest. It appears that it doesn't often happen except with birds in captivity, so now I don't feel too bad about my previous almost total ignorance of the matter. And I'll certainly be looking out for the book and CD "Nature's Music" that Richard Ranft has told us is about to be published; it's a "must have" for me.
