Marantz repair in Canada

Hi all

My Marantz PMD 221 cassette recorder (yes, still living in the analogue
world) has recently developed a strange, rhythmic ticking noise as the
'drive' wheel rotates (~ 2 ticks/second). Of course, it ticks away while
playing or recording - I don't notice it while fast forwarding (but maybe i=
t
just blends together into an undetectable whirr). Recording with a paraboli=
c
is still possible, since the sound is shielded by the dish...but when I
switched to a shotgun mike, there it was, wrecking my recordings! I suppose
I could tuck the recorder under several layers of clothing, but that's not
the solution I'm looking for. The nearest electronics/music fix-it shop
admitted they would just be mucking about with no real idea of what the
problem might be: "send it to the manufacturer" they said. I looked under
Marantz.com and found no reference to Canada (I'd rather not ship across th=
e
border if it can be avoided...strange and costly things often happen). An
email to led to an entirely unrelated product. Anybody
happen to know where I can get this thing fixed?

Thanks
