I have a set of Radio Shack stereo omni lapel mics installed on a
homemade parabolic dish and I am trying to adjust them to receive a
stereo field. I have some hearing loss in one ear so I wonder if I
can trust what I am hearing. Anyway, I am confused about the
placement of the elements relative to the focal point of the dish.=20
I have been following the group for some time and I do not expect
anyone to re-hash the information posted in the past. The dish has
a single focal point where I can experience the most gain. If I
then place the elements on a plane to the left and right of this
focal point, would I record less gain than at the focal point?=20=20
Perhaps the loss is small and of little consequence. The other
point is if I place the element closer to the dish center wouldn't
that pick up the reflected signal before it reaches the focal point
and be directly in the path of the reflected signal for more gain?=20
If so, then I should be able to place the element farther from the
dish center and pick up the sound as it begins to diffuse. If I
mount the elements close together and used a barrier between them at
the focal point would I have a smaller loss of gain than if I had
separated the elements to receive a stereo image and omitted the
barrier?=20
