With Soundhack that I used for my web pages, the time scale is fixed,
you can only change the length of time shown by changing the sampling rate.

With Spark XL, there are 4 speeds available. Depending on what else is
going on my G4 may give dropouts of the sonogram drawing at the faster
speeds.

There is another way to control the geometry of the call in Spark XL,
the frequency scale is highly adjustable. Using a narrow frequency range
just fitting the call will stretch it vertically quite a bit, whereas
using a wide range will compress it.
