"The Soundscape of Modernity" by Emily Thompson, MIT Press, 2002 details the urban soundscape between 1900 - 1933 and the ways in which it was migitaged with new technologies in the field of architectural acoustics. "Listening to Ninth Century America," Mark M. Simth, Chapel Hill Press, 2001. Ever try to figure what the soundscape of slavery is? Or the Civil War? Or antebellum society? It should have included a CD for examples but the explanations become the next best thing. Bernie Krause Wild Sanctuary, Inc. P. O.
