One of the things that needs to be compiled is which mics die when they
get outdoors. That's something the spec sheets seem to leave off. I did
not take the risk of the unknown, but went with the MKH for my setups.

Seems a little strange that it should make a difference between two
figure 8's and one.

When you used the two figure 8 configuration did you try the blumlein
crossed 8's or some other angled pattern or just face them the same way?
