Minidisc news:
The Minidisc.Org site has information about the new top-of-the-line
Sharp consumer minidisc recorder, the MD-DR7. This $300 unit
includes a 5 second pre-record memory buffer, just like many pro
recorders. Right now this recorder is available only in Japan.
Thursday's GoodGuys advertising insert announced a $30 mail-in rebate
for the Sony MZ-N505 minidisc recorder, bringing the price down to
$99. The N505 lacks a mic-in port, but it does include analog and
digital line level inputs. Pair the N505 with a SoundProfessionals
SP-PREAMP-4 ($160, including an Otterbox with enough room inside for
the minidisc machine) to create a field-worthy recorder that captures
better sound than any $250 to $300 consumer minidisc.
