Hi Callan:

When my recording equipment in my studio does "stupid" things, I almost
always devise a workaround first in order to allow me to keep doing my thing
without having to go into "analysis of electronics" mode. One solution you
can implement immediately is to create a dummy track of worthless audio for
track 1- make it a few minutes- think of it as the "Oh Crap!" track. That
way, you can set to record, then look down and make sure the MD has not
bumped you to track one- but if it does, no harm done. Then you can just say
"Oh crap" instead of "Oh ( insert much worse expletive here) which is what
*I* would do if I recorded over something valuable... But thats just me.

Of course, you want to find out why the MD is doing this and make it stop.
But in the meantime, no more lost Ugandan birdcalls. After all, that is just
plain unacceptable!

Good luck,
Tanya
