I am not an expert.

I use, and am very happy with, an RME Digi96/8 PST. It's a professional
solution with stereo analog in/out, digital in/out (over SPDIF) and ADAT
in/out (which I don't use). It supports resolutions up to 24bit/96Khz.

You should take a serious look at RME. Their website is extremely
informative, they include reference machines for use with their hardware;
their drivers are legendary for being rock-solid; and they are considered
to have very, very good convertors:

You might be interested in the related Digi96/8 PAD which has AES/EBU in
addition; I'm not sure if your portadisc uses AES/EBU.

If you forsee a need for multi-track i/o you might consider their very
highly regarded, much more expensive Hammerfall DSP series.

Best regards,

 aaron
