I thought I would mention a CD that was recently produced by Bernab=E9 L=F3=
pez
Lan=FAs and Viviana Caro who work at the Humboldt Archive in Colombia.
It was published by L.O.L.A., Buenos Aires, Argentina and like many South
America publications will probably go largely unnoticed.
The title is: "Catalogue of Audio Guides to the Birds of the Americas/
Cat=E1logo de Gu=EDas Sonoras para las Aves de Am=E9rica" and the jacket gi=
ves a
publishing date of August 2001 although it was actually only published a fe=
w
months ago. Its a database which lists commercially available recordings of
3147 species (YES 3147 !) with a variety of details provided for over 12,00=
0
cuts, and is therefore a very useful shortcut to searching out published
recordings.
Anyway it is proving to be a huge help for me and this note is not intended
to be a plug nor do I have anything to do with the product.
This means that there are commercially available recordings for over 70% of
the avifauna of the Americas !
regards to all,
Mark Pearman
