 Hi,

As this is my second post, i would like to introduce myself to the
group. My name is John Parks and i live in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
Canada.I have no background in nature recording, but i spend all my
free time in the field, whether camping or hiking. My love of
wildlife began at the age of eight. I am also new to the computer, it
is old and i am learning by trial and error. I spent the last few
days reading some of the messages of the group. The knowledge and
expertise overwhelms me. I want to thank Doug for answering my
emails, and for telling me about this amazing group. Last Oct. i was
hiking the same trail all month. Nearly every day i would hear
strange vocalization in the brush, and than a whitetail deer would
come out in the open. Its not the snort or bleat ect. that i heard
from deer before and i would like to record it as i said in my first
post. If i get this than i'll move on to birds ect. My revenue is
very limited after bidding on the recorder. Can i use a uni-
directioal mike in a parabola? Can i build my own parabolic? How can
it be done?
                                                       Thanks,

                                                       John E Parks
