Something that might be of interest to new members...

If you access the web via a dial-up connection...

Temporarily setting Microsoft Internet Explorer to suppress display
of graphics makes it a quite a bit faster if your reading back
messages in the post archive. It stops most of the pesky ad graphics
from loading.

In Internet Explorer 5.5...

>From the browser window, click on the "Tools" pull-down menu.
Select "Internet Options...". Select the "Advanced" tab from
the "Internet Options" menu. Move the slider down to
the "Multimedia" options and un-select "Show pictures". Then close
the window by clicking on "OK".

When "Show pictures" is un-selected, when a web page loads, all you
get is an outline box where each picture would otherwise be - with a
caption if the page was coded with one. If you wish to see a given
picture, just right-hand click on the box (assuming your mouse is
configured for right-handed users) and select "Show Picture".

Just remember to set things back when your finished!
