In case you still have that disk unrecorded (unlikely I know!)...
...the Sony data-drive (MDH-10) based system I use from EDL (linked from
my 'gear I use' page...) has a facility to scan MDs and rip all of the
audio data on them, TOC or no ~ not unlike recovering data on a harddrive.
It will construct a new TOC for you too I believe.
If the disk was blank to begin with, I would assume the results would
usually be a mostly coherent file with perhaps some non-linearities that
with luck could be identified and remedied in an audio editor... a
thankless task perhaps (like repairing digital overs...) but in some cases
better than nothing!
If I had known I was goint to have this system when I was traveling I
could have saved some excellent recordings that I sadly recorded over,
under similar circumstances ~ I had a portable consumer deck with an
external, screw-on battery back; the contacts got dirty and bent and
dropped contact a few times...
I think EDL does data-recovery consulting themselves; else, you'd need to
invest in their system... or impose on a friend who had.
Best,
aaron
